Carpoxylon macrospermum

Rip Curl palms in our Kalepa nursery.

Carpoxylon macrospermum is a very distinctive palm from the Vanuatu islands. Until 1985 it was thought to be extinct, but it has been brought back from the brink and now is used as a unique landscape palm. The young trees shown above are about 10 ft across and the tree can eventually grow to more than 40 ft tall. If grown with large amounts of water (ie. very close to a water feature or watered heavily and regularly) this plant can grow very large. With intermittent or less watering, the crown will remain at this size as the tree gets taller.
